More than 10 million people are abused each year in the U.S. Thankfully, in our community, Women Against Abuse is on a mission to provide quality, compassionate, and non-judgmental services to end domestic violence through advocacy and community education. To help achieve its ambitious mission, we want to extend our agency’s efforts to assist Women Against Abuse to provide a voice for the voiceless.

Women Against Abuse exists to show these victims they are not just a statistic. Over the years, mentors at the organization have created support and a network of resources designed to develop meaningful relationships that encourage victims of abuse to achieve their personal goals. Since its inception, the noble efforts of this organization have touched the lives of 11,500 adults and children in Philadelphia through direct life-saving services, community education, prevention, and advocacy.

In 2006, it was reported that the homeless pet population in Philadelphia was made up of about 30,000 animals. It was at that time that the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, or PAWS, was founded. Since then, they have been able to reduce the number of animals entering the city shelter by over 60%!

PAWS has made it their mission to save our community’s homeless and at-risk pets by providing “affordable, basic veterinary care for pet owners and rescue organizations that cannot otherwise access it”. This dedicated organization has three no-kill shelters, a foster care network, and hosts special events that are focused on finding fur-ever homes for countless animals every year.

In January 2019, the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness reported that there were about 13,199 people experiencing homelessness in Pennsylvania. Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission is all about focusing on “caring for the spiritual needs in addition to the practical needs of people” and we here at McHugh Insurance share that same sentiment.
